Paresh Rawal Hints at Return to “Hera Pheri 3”: Says “You Just Need to Fine-Tune With Each Other”

Paresh Rawal has hinted at returning as the iconic Baburao in Hera Pheri 3.

The dreams of Bollywood fans were revived after veteran actor Paresh Rawal, the one and only Baburao Apte, suggested he would return to the cast of Hera Pheri 3. His recent remarks indicate that while things had previously fallen apart, with a little adjustment of the people involved, they could bring the original trio back together.

Earlier this year, Paresh Rawal shocked many by announcing he was stepping away, and said it wasn’t because of creative differences, and expressed deep respect for director Priyadarshan. Instead, Rawal explained at the time that he did not have the right feeling doing the role at that time.

Rawal and his crew repaid their signing fee (around 11 lakhs) and 15% interest to the producers. His lawyer expressed that there was no formal script, character details, or long-form contract; therefore, he departed “rightfully” to protect his interests and his relationship with those involved.

Simultaneously, Akshay Kumar’s production company sent a legal notice for damages for Rs 25 crore, claiming that Rawal had delayed the production, causing them logistical and monetary losses, and had violated their contract.

Rawal’s side denied the allegations, saying there was no binding agreement and that they had returned all fees with interest. Suniel Shetty and Priyadarshan both acknowledged what a shock Rawal’s decision was. Shetty heard it from his family, and the director even commented that the unexpected news had hurt him deeply.

But now, it looks like it could be turning a corner. Rawal said, quite plainly: “No controversy… everything is sorted now.” He confirmed that when something is cherished as much as this franchise, everyone needs to be extra careful. He stressed that it was acquired “coming together and working hard.”

Of utmost importance, Rawal provided a significant line: “Earlier, the film was going to happen anyway. But what happens is that sometimes you need to fine‑tune each other, because all of them, creative people – Priyadarshan, Akshay, Sunil, they’ve been my friends for a lot of years.”

This hint strongly suggests that he is open to rejoining the cast, provided the team is creatively aligned and communicates with one another.

Official statements have a hint that shooting will begin in August 2025, with Rawal on as Baburao. Priyadarshan is expected to direct, keeping the original series’ comedic and overall feel.

The Hera Pheri movie is very popular and adored by fans for its excellent comedies, entertaining one-liners, and unforgettable chemistry: Baburao, Raju, and Shyam. The original Hera Pheri (2000) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006) become the cult classics thanks to Rawal’s Baburao, Akshay’s Raju, and Shetty’s Shyam.

For a large group of fans, a third film without Rawal wouldn’t feel complete. Rawal’s comment about “fine-tuning” indicates that he is not necessarily going to lose sight of the film’s heart: the friendship and different characters that made the franchise so iconic.

So, what does Paresh Rawal’s hint mean? As he said, the Hera Pheri 3 crew just needs to fine-tune their collaboration, and not reinvent anything. After the contract and communication issues are cleared, he is able to play Baburao.

The answer to whether everything is “resolved now” will be revealed, when filming starts. For now, fans have some new hope that the legendary trio of Baburao, Raju and Shyam will finally reunite with laughter, friendship, and that signature Hera Pheri charm on full display.
