The renowned director Karan Johar has finally put an end to all the rumors surrounding his long-gestating historical drama, Takht, being shelved. He assured that he has not abandoned the film, and it is just on hold and alive in his head.

The star cast features a thrilling lineup of actors, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar.

Takht was announced in August 2019 and was initially scheduled to begin shooting in April 2020, with a Christmas 2021 release planned. The pandemic changed all their plans, and all work discussed, decided, and planned for the film was shelved.

Johar underscored his commitment to the film and said, “Takht is not shelved. It is just pushed.” He elaborated that there is much work to be done for the film, and the crew had already put in two years of preparation work before the pandemic derailed the schedule.

Johar called Takht his “passion project” and noted its importance to him at this stage in his career.

The story of Takht explores the historical context of the Mughal era, including the stormy relationship between brothers, Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh.

Johar acknowledged that Takht is a period film, but he also said it is primarily a family drama that focuses on family and relationships.

When confronted with questions about the film’s scope and issues of the pandemic, Johar stated that Takht requires a film that would be a hands-on production process with thousands of people in the production on set every day, and due to the health and safety rules during the pandemic doing such an On-Location production was feasible for the time.

Despite its sporadic setbacks due to unprecedented global events, Karan Johar’s determination towards the movie is adamant.

Thus, the audience and movie buffs can expect this epic historical film that will put another milestone on Johar’s already glorious career.
