The highly anticipated fifth installment of the successful Bollywood comedy franchise has had a glorious entry on the box office. The film hit theatres on June 6, 2025.
Box Office Breakdown
₹23 crore on Day 1 (June 6), exceeding Housefull 4’s opening of ₹19 crore
₹32 crore on Day 3 (Sunday) brings the total to around ₹87 crore and will surely approach ₹90 crore just before the weekend wrap
The three-day overall domestic gross is close to ₹90 crore (USD 13 million), and worldwide collections are already said to have passed ₹140 crore (USD 21 million) respectively
After the end of limited competition at the box office with Raid 2, Kesari Chapter 2, and Bhool Chuk Maaf finishing their theatrical runs, it looks like Housefull 5 is circling with a blank slate path in front.
Housefull 5 may be the butt of comic book criticism but it has become an absolute commercial pinball machine of growth. Slap shoot, large-scale laughter, and ensemble cast appeal are primed for its reception.
Critics exploring the film questioned it as humour but criticized so much of the humour to be double entendre and no substance of a narrative. It opened with mixed reviews from audiences and film critics.
With a tremendous opening, Housefull 5 is expected to come in for ₹70-80 crore during its opening weekend. If it sustains through the weekdays, it could cross ₹150 crore domestically, making it the biggest movie of the franchise so far.
Housefull 5 also registered the third-best opening day for a Hindi film in 2025, behind only Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava (Rs 31 crore on Day 1) and Salman Khan’s Sikandar (Rs 26 crore on Day 1), it has gone ahead of Raid 2, Jaat, and other 2025 released so far. That’s Akshay’s biggest opening post-pandemic after Sooryavanshi.
The film is a quirky murder mystery set aboard a cruise ship.
When a billionaire announces that his fortune goes to Jolly, the man mysteriously dies which sets into motion a series of events that lead to chaos when there are three Jollys (Akshay, Riteish, and Abhishek) and their girlfriends, who are all suspects.
For the time being, Housefull 5 has provided the laugh riot that fans have been after, and the numbers at the box office show just that.
