Ranveer Singh’s fierce first look in “Dhurandhar” is here

Ranveer Singh makes a powerful comeback with the first look of his upcoming action-thriller Dhurandhar, unveiled on his 40th birthday.

On his 40th birthday, Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh gave audiences a first look at his next big film, Dhurandhar. The two-minute-forty-second teaser released by Jio Studios and B62 Studios was launched on social media in minutes, and the teaser has possibly already become the talk of the town.

The video begins on a weather-beaten street. We see Ranveer with his hair windswept, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, walking through smoke. He has blood on his face. In a very low voice‐over, Ranveer intones, “Ghayal hoon, isliye Ghatak hoon” (“I am wounded, therefore I am deadly”).

The frame would indicate a total break from Ranveer’s flamboyant Rocky of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and gives an impression of a darker, grungier side of the actor.

Dhurandhar is written, directed, and produced by National Award-winning Aditya Dhar, best known for Uri: The Surgical Strike. Here, Dhar once again teams with action choreographers and military advisers to make what the creators describe as a ”high-octane espionage thriller.”

Besides Ranveer, the film has an unbeatable ensemble. The teaser also features Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and new talent Sara Arjun.

Each character appears for a split second on screen, making it difficult to say who is the hero and who is the villain. That intentional ambiguity has already sparked fan theories across the internet.

While details of the plot are being kept under wraps, notes suggest that the events of the film are set in the late 1970s and early 1980s, widely regarded by many as RAW’s golden years.

The tagline “Uncover the True Story of the Unknown Men” seems to imply a combination of love for one’s country, spying, and sacrifice.

In less than 24 hours, the teaser garnered 16.88 million views on YouTube, making it the eighth-most-viewed first-look video in the history of Indian cinema. It even beat the view count for the first look of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, by nearly 29%. The clip is still trending #1 on the platform.

Dhurandhar signifies Ranveer’s full-length return as a solo lead. Trade analysts point out that his last solo film, Exist 83, released just before the pandemic wave, had a poor box office showing despite critical appreciation. Now a buzzy spy thriller, he gets this chance to prove his star power again in theatres.

The producers have set a global theatrical roll-out date of 5 December 2025 – locking down a holiday period in early winter where little competition is expected to be announced.

Advanced marketing reportedly includes city tours, a behind-the-scenes web series, and an interactive exhibition for fans that includes the costumes and props used in the film.

Ranveer Singh is back and tougher than ever, and Dhurandhar is shaping up to be an exhilarating motion picture, with spies, huge stars, and action-packed scenes that will hit just as hard.
