Sanjay Kapur, Karisma Kapoor’s Ex-Husband, Dies of Heart Attack

London/Mumbai, June 13, 2025 – Sanjay Kapur, the Indian industrialist who was once married to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, died suddenly at 53 years of age after collapsing due to a heart attack during a game of polo in the United Kingdom. Both a business leader and a keen player of the sport, his sudden demise has drawn both the corporate and entertainment worlds into mourning.

The tragic event took place on June 12 at a polo game in England. As per statements authenticated by business analyst Suhel Seth, Kapur allegedly died after experiencing a cardiac arrest due to accidentally ingesting a bee while on the field. Resuscitation efforts were made at the ground by medical teams, but unfortunately, he couldn’t be revived.

He married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and the two had two children—daughter Samaira (19) and son Kiaan (13)—before their divorce was finalized in 2016. Renowned for his entrepreneurial mind and considerate actions, one such gesture after the divorce was buying Rs 14 crore worth of bonds to invest for the futures of his children. He remarried in 2017, marrying entrepreneur and former model Priya Sachdev, and they have a son, Azarias.

Kapur was also posting on social media during his last hours. Just a few hours before he died, he posted condolences for the passengers killed in the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
